PJ Care
Its care centre residents include people with a range of conditions including motor neurone disease, young onset dementia, Huntington’s disease and acquired brain injuries. It also cares for people with spinal injuries.
PJ Care owns and manages two centres in Milton Keynes – Bluebirds and Mallard House – as well as its flagship Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre in Peterborough, which opened in 2012 and is the UK’s only centre able to treat all neurological conditions on one site.
The company was founded in 2000 by nurse and former NHS manager Jan Flawn, who opened her first centre after witnessing young people with neurological conditions being given inappropriate care in homes for the elderly. Jan was made a CBE in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for ‘services to the care home business and charitable fundraising’.
